The Wall Built with Stone Slab


The wall built with stone slabs meant:to have the wall built with mountain rocks,then reinforced the masonry wall by pointing it with lime and glutinous rice mixed in thick liquid.The rocks would be processed into different specifications of rectangular stone slabs due to different construction locations and geographical environment.In some places rubble stones were used straight away.It was characterized by utilizing the stonework which was more convenient to make the best use of the local resources as most of the Great Wall was built on a dangerous mountain top,and such kind of construction had a strong loading capacity and a firm and solid structure.It could not only keep the enemy outside the wall but also could stand up the test of war.Furthermore,it could undergo the natural erosion of wind ,frost,rain and snow,and not be restricted by any weather conditions.
